What's the Best Length for Small Business Blog Articles?
Posted by Chris Stone
If you are new to blogging for small business, you may be struggling with finding the ideal length for your small business blog posts. It is important to remember that blog posts are meant to be on the shorter side. However, be sure not to make your posts so short that you are not offering any value.
As a rule of thumb, 400 words is the magic number per post when it comes to blogging for small business. This number is not set in stone, so it is okay to write slightly longer or slightly shorter posts depending on your topic.
There are a few other things you may want to consider when creating your blog posts.
How Often Do You Post?
If you are going to be putting up posts everyday or every other day, you may want to make your posts closer to 200 words. Since you are providing new content more often, you want to make your blog easy to keep up with. Reading 400 to 600 words per day may be too time consuming for your prospects. If you only have time to update your blog once or twice a week, you are better off giving slightly meatier posts containing 400 words or more.
Creating a Series
You may have a really good idea for a topic that you want to share with readers. If you sit down to write and come up with 2,000 words don't get discouraged, there is still a way to share this information with your prospects. Create a series where you post part of this topic every Friday. It will keep readers coming back for more.
Don't Post Junk Just to Meet a Number
While 400 words is a recommended length, there is no need to post ramblings and useless information just to reach a certain number of words. 150 words of value are worth more than 400 words of nonsense.
